The Advocacy for Biodiversity Offsetting in Ghana (ABOG) Project is an initiative developed, facilitated and implemented in partnership with the John A. Kufuor, with funding support from the Business Sector Advocacy Challenge (BUSAC) Fund. The ABOG project seek to provide government regulatory institutions with the funding, technical, and grassroots support needed for the mainstreaming of biodiversity issues into decision making and governments’ economic planning. Through the project which began in August 2015, a series of roundtable consultations have been held with multiple stakeholders leading to the development of guidelines for biodiversity offsetting in Ghana. The Advocacy for Biodiversity Offsetting Group comprising of key private sector associations such as the Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Private Enterprise Federation, Ghana Micro Financial Institutions Network, Ghana Flower Growers Association etc., has also emerged to work at developing the country’s biodiversity offset market.
