BENCI

Under the distinguished patronage of the UN Special Envoy on Climate Change (2013 – 2015), H.E John Agyekum Kufuor, NYCOB Enterprise Consortium in partnership with The John A. Kufuor Foundation initiated the Biodiversity Ecosystems and Natural Capital Investment (BENCI) Programme as part of efforts to drive private investment growth and grants in biodiversity-based industries in Ghana and across the West Africa Sub Region. Some of such actions being taken under this programme include promoting innovative green ventures and climate smart agricultural practices, growing more trees to sequester carbon emissions, protecting water bodies and ecosystems etc. As a result of the BENCI initiative investments have been made by The John A. Kufuor Foundation and the Business Sector Advocacy Challenge (BUSAC) Fund in the preparation of guidelines for biodiversity offsetting in Ghana.
