The NYCOB resolution is a voluntary partnership agreement initiated and establish among the NYCOB founding member organizations at the 2010 National Youth Conference on Biodiversity (NYCOB 2010) marking the celebration of International Year of Biodiversity (2010)in Ghana. The aim is to draw national attention to the state of Ghana’s biodiversity resources, build consensus, and mobilize resource that are committed to biodiversity conservation and its awareness for human, economic and social sustainable development and growth in Ghana.
The resolution promotes a joint action to conserve biodiversity and equitable sharing of benefits arising from the use of biodiversity resources, through the application of a market-based approach – a new way that brings private sector skills to bear, raises capital from new sources, combines finance, business support and biodiversity management assistance to fledgling business, establishes robust management systems to evaluate progress, creates new partnerships and, ultimately, new market demands for biodiversity conservation, sufficient to attract private investment and sustain profitable businesses.
The establishment of the NYCOB Resolution was led by Hero Productions, and further developed and adopted by four (4) other founding member organizations (National Cadet Corps Ghana (NCCG), Ghana Girl Guides Association (GGGA), Head of State Award Scheme (HOSAS) of the Duke of Edinburg’s International Awards , Junior Chamber International (JCI) Ghana).
